Retiring police officers promoted

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted more than 60 senior police officers upon their retirement. The announcement was made by Police Commissioner-General Tandabantu Godwin Matanga yesterday.

He explained that President Mnangagwa, as the head of the military, authorized these promotions to honor the officers’ service upon retirement.
Several promotions were announced:

Six Commissioners were promoted to Deputy Commissioner-General and these are: David Mahoya, Erasmus Makodza, Kudakwashe Mubemi, Priscilla Makotose, Winston Muza and Richard Basera. Twelve Assistant Commissioners, namely Simon Mundondwa, James Makone, Tadeus Madondo, George Mugonda, Johannes Govo, Innocent Zimbwa, Godfrey Zimbwa, Richard Mubaiwa, Blessing Chitombo, Obeylaw Moyo, Engelbert Wilson, Dube Shelton, became Commissioners.

Sixteen Chief Superintendents were promoted to Assistant Commissioner.Thirty-three Superintendents were promoted to Chief Superintendent.

”A total of 16 retiring Chief Superintedents were conferred with rank of Assistant Commissioner, while 33 retiring Superintedents were conferred with rank of Chief Superintendent.”

Police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi stated that these promotions align with the government’s goals for 2030, but no details were provided on the specific connection.
