NGOZI MINE-In a heartwarming display of community support, renowned herbalist Yolanda Ngano, co-founder of Bedroom Haven, led a successful pad drive at Ngozi Mine earlier this week.
The event focused on enhancing menstrual health and hygiene for maturing teenagers and young women in the area.
The drive, themed “Menstrual Health is a Human Right,” highlighted the critical need for access to menstrual products to maintain dignity, health, and well-being. Yolanda Ngano emphasized, “Helping girls stay in school during their periods is essential. Menstruation shouldn’t hold anyone back. Our goal is to ensure that every girl and woman has the resources they need during this vulnerable time.”
Bedroom Haven’s efforts extended beyond sanitary pads; they also distributed clothing to the community, showcasing a commitment to comprehensive support. These contributions were made possible by generous donations from clients, partners, and supporters of Bedroom Haven.
Community leader Gideon Tshuma expressed his gratitude, stating, “We’re thankful for individuals who care for our children and women as if they were their own.” This sentiment reflects the deep impact of Bedroom Haven’s initiative on community spirit and solidarity.
Yolanda Ngano called for continued public support, aiming to further address the essential needs of the community, particularly focusing on girls and women. “Each visit brings us closer to a more equitable and compassionate society,” she remarked, inviting everyone to join in this noble cause.
This initiative not only addresses immediate sanitary needs but also educates and empowers, fostering an environment where menstrual health is openly discussed and supported.
