One death, infant missing in Green Horse Bus Accident

Police have reported that one person died and an infant is missing following a bus accident at the Mletshane River in Kgobontwane Village, located 67 kilometers from the Gwanda-Mawaza road, yesterday.
The deceased is identified as Sithembiso Dube (33), from under the Kgwatalala ward.
The Green Horse bus was heading west, carrying seventy-five passengers, when it got into an accident at the Mletshane River, which was swollen with flowing water, causing the bus to be swept away.
Matabeleland South Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Loveness Mangena, confirmed one death in the incident, with the infant still unaccounted for.
“The bus entered the river where it was swept away by the current. Dube unfortunately died in the accident. The three-month-old infant is missing. Dube’s body has been taken to Gwanda mortuary. The bus had seventy-five passengers, some of whom were unharmed. The police are still investigating this accident,” Mangena stated.
She also issued a warning to drivers, “We advise drivers not to enter flooded rivers. They should wait for the water to subside.”
Gwanda South’s MP, Dr. Omphile Marupi, has expressed his condolences following the tragedy.
“We are saddened by the bus accident and the loss of life of our loved ones along with belongings on the Mawaza route. We extend our condolences to the family, those associated with Green Horse, and all affected by this incident. May we find solace,” Marupi said. Source Ntepe Manama FM.
