Pumula South District, Adventist Youth Empowerment Program to host Career Indaba and Skills Day for Youth.

The Pumula South District Adventist Youth Empowerment Program is set to host a Career Indaba and Skills Day on February 9th at Light House High School in Pumula South, Bulawayo, from 9 AM to 12 PM.
In an interview with Matebeleland Pulse, Jabulile Siwela, the Adventist Youth Empowerment Coordinator for Pumula South District, highlighted the challenges many young people face in choosing career paths. “Many youths are struggling to make informed career decisions, often influenced by peers without considering future prospects. Our goal is to gather young people from across the city to engage in meaningful conversations with experts from diverse fields who can guide them towards making sound career choices,” Siwela explained.
The event is open to all young individuals, particularly those in Form 2, who are about to select their study combinations for O’ Level, as well as Form 4 and A’ Level students. “We are also focusing on a skills component where attendees can learn various income-generating skills,” added Siwela.
The Career Indaba will feature a networking hub where participants can meet potential employers. “We aim to facilitate more events like this in the future, providing opportunities for mentorship and guidance,” Siwela stated.
This hub will not only connect students with industry experts but will also plant seeds for long-term career development.
Attendees will benefit from industry representatives from the Agriculture sector, Civil Society Organizations, and the Engineering and Heavy Duty industries, ensuring a broad spectrum of career insights for the participants.
This initiative not only aims to enlighten youths on career paths but also to equip them with practical skills that foster a generation of self-reliant, informed individuals ready to contribute to their communities and broader economy.
