In a landmark move to advance educational technology in Matabeleland North, Edutech has announced a donation of laptops to all schools in the province.

The pledge was unveiled by Edutech Director Luke Msapasi during the Secretary’s Bell Merit Awards ceremony held at Amandlethi AMR Sisters High School in Lupane last week.

Speaking to Matabeleland Pulse, Msapasi highlighted the pressing need for technological support in the region’s schools. “I observed that many school heads struggle to operate ICT gadgets, and school budgets are too limited to afford such equipment. This donation aims to close that gap and create a more conducive learning environment for both teachers and students,” he explained.

To ensure the effective use of the donated laptops, Msapasi revealed plans for a specialized training workshop for school heads. “It’s not enough to just provide the equipment. We must equip school leaders with the skills to leverage these tools for the benefit of their institutions,” he emphasized.

Edutech’s commitment extends beyond the laptop donation. Msapasi also announced a holiday package for the award-winning school heads, designed to support their professional development. “This initiative is about fostering continuous growth and learning for educational leaders,” he added.

During the awards ceremony, Edutech further demonstrated its dedication by donating eight tablets and active boards to the winning schools. The gesture was warmly received, underscoring the organization’s mission to enhance educational resources in Matabeleland North.

Moses Mhike, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, praised Edutech’s efforts. “This initiative is commendable and aligns with our broader goals of improving educational access and quality across Zimbabwe,” he said. Mhike stressed the transformative potential of integrating technology into education, noting, “With the right tools and training, our schools can deliver a more impactful learning experience for students.”

As Matabeleland North schools gear up to receive these resources, the collaboration between Edutech and local education leaders signals a promising step toward technological empowerment in the province. This initiative is set to benefit both students and educators, paving the way for a brighter future in education.
