Tsholotsho-The Tsholotsho International and Local Business Association (TILBA) has intervened to ensure seamless internet connectivity at Tsholotsho High School ahead of the National Under-17 Girls’ competitions sponsored by Stella Tanganda, scheduled for July 23-25.
TILBA Chairperson Sheila Ndlovu revealed that the association identified a critical gap after learning the school only received a Starlink user terminal – not the full kit required for operational connectivity. “We seized this opportunity to contribute to our district’s development,” Ndlovu stated. “As business leaders, we recognize reliable internet is essential for modern education and preparing students for the digital future.”
School Headmaster Sicelo Dube confirmed the Starlink terminal arrived via the Presidential Internet Scheme but emphasized additional infrastructure is needed: “To fully utilize this technology, we require Wi-Fi routers, access points, and supporting hardware to ensure campus-wide coverage. This will transform access to online resources and virtual learning.”
Critical Requirements & Costs
The school requires $4,990 to fund:
– WiFi 6 access points (indoor/outdoor)
– 8-Port PoE switches (802.3af)
– Cat6 Ethernet cables (305m roll)
– Conduit, weatherproof casing, RJ45 connectors
– Patch panels, mounting kits
– Network design, cabling, installation
– Testing, optimization, and travel/accommodation
TILBA has donated an undisclosed amount toward the project. Dube expressed gratitude: “TILBA’s contribution will significantly enhance connectivity and student learning. We’re optimistic this support will provide the digital tools our students need to thrive.”
The initiative has garnered community support, with stakeholders anticipating improved academic prospects and enhanced capabilities as the school prepares to host the national tournament.
