The Annual Tshabalala Sizinda Sports Gala will take place this Saturday at Indlovu Youth Centre, with games scheduled to start at 9am, organisers have confirmed.
The event is organised by Tshabalala Sizinda Old School in partnership with Indlovu Youth Club and is expected to draw a large community turnout. Activities on the programme include boys and girls’ soccer, netball and indigenous games.
Speaking in an interview with Matpulse, Tshabalala Sizinda Secretary Marko Muderere outlined some of the key fixtures for the day.
“The netball court will host a thrilling encounter between Sizinda Springbock and Indlovu Queens, while defending champions Queen Elizabeth will take on Tshabalala Queens in girls’ soccer,” said Muderere. “The boys’ soccer semi-finals will feature Tshabalala Warriors vs Gugulethu FC and La Masia vs Sizinda Pirates.”
Muderere added that the Under-10 and Under-12 boys’ soccer categories will showcase emerging talent, with Sizinda Pirates, Tshabalala Warriors and La Masia FC competing. Sizinda Pirates currently top the Under-12 rankings.
This year’s edition of the gala will also introduce indigenous games for the first time, highlighting traditional sporting activities and skills.
Entertainment will be provided by award-winning Khaya Arts Production, which is set to perform during the event.
According to organisers, the gala is supported by ML Sport, Mr Sinkwa, Esats Stores, Good Grocer, Khaya Arts, Tshabalala Pharmacy, Tug-o-Mania, Basic Supermarket and Matebeleland Pulse.
“A huge turnout is expected this Saturday,” said Muderere. “The community is encouraged to come and support talented young athletes while enjoying sports, entertainment and community spirit.”
