Gospel musician Wisdom Chawinga is set to release a new inspirational single titled “Ungu Jehovah,” a song rooted in faith, hope, and trust in God during life’s difficult moments.
The track will be available on major streaming platforms from 28 February 2026, marking the first official release from Chawinga’s upcoming Saviour Album. He will debut the song at the Revive Us Again concert in Nkulumane.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, Chawinga revealed that “Ungu Jehovah” was written during a challenging period in his life.
“‘Ungu Jehovah’ came to me during a tough time, reflecting on God’s faithfulness and sovereignty. I just wanted to declare His greatness and remind myself and others of His power,” he said.
The song is meant to encourage listeners to hold on to faith during adversity.
“It’s a call to trust in His power and goodness, to instill hope because He is God,” Chawinga said. “I hope people feel uplifted and encouraged to trust God more, even in challenges. That sense of hope and peace is what I want them to take away from this song.”
Chawinga described the songwriting process as deeply personal and organic.
“We came up with the song with my co-writer, Kingdom Chawinga, while we were in a car. We just decided to make the idea come to life,” he said.
The single was produced and arranged by Vic Dhumela, with instrumental and arrangement contributions from Wisdom Dhumela and Wenkosi Tshili.
Reflecting on the recording process, Chawinga said it felt focused and intentional.
“We were really focused on capturing the heart of the message. We didn’t overthink it, we just allowed God to use us,” he said.
The title “Ungu Jehovah,” which translates from Ndebele as “You are Jehovah,” reflects the song’s central message of acknowledging God’s authority and presence in every season of life.
“It’s a step forward in sharing my faith through music and showing that God is at the center of everything in my life,” Chawinga said.
Since beginning his music journey in 2014, Chawinga has released songs including Hlabelela and Saviour, performed at various concerts, and collaborated with artists such as Danny Dee under his label Wisdom Chawinga Music and Voices Brands.
“This single is just the beginning. There’s an album coming soon, and all of it is about giving God all the glory,” he said.
