Bulawayo Police Arrest Woman in 2-Year-Old Toddler Abduction Case

Police in Bulawayo have arrested a woman in connection with the abduction of 2-year-old Asandra Ndhlovu, who was taken from a local mall on 17 February 2026. The toddler has been recovered safe and reunited with her mother.


The suspect was apprehended at Corner Herbert Chitepo and 3rd Avenue, Bulawayo, following a tip-off that led officers to the child. She is assisting police with ongoing investigations.

Press and Public Relations Officer for Bulawayo Province, Inspector Msebele commended the public for their role in the recovery: “We applaud members of the public for cooperating with police, which led to the safe recovery of the child.”


Asandra was abducted around 10:30 am while at her mother’s workplace at a mall on L Takawira Avenue and J. Moyo Street. Authorities have withheld further details about the suspect and circumstances of the abduction pending ongoing investigations.
The swift police response, coupled with community vigilance, has brought relief to the family and highlighted the importance of public involvement in child safety.
