World Vision has bolstered educational infrastructure at Sibombo Primary School in Lupane by donating a new classroom block and a solar-powered water system. The official handover, held last week, was officiated by Matabeleland North’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Richland Moyo.

The new classroom block addresses overcrowding, creating a better learning environment for students. The solarized water system ensures access to clean water, supporting student health and well-being. These upgrades aim to enhance educational outcomes and foster community development.

During the ceremony, Minister Moyo emphasized community responsibility: “It is crucial that both the school and the community come together to fully utilize these resources. They are not just facilities; they are tools for improving the educational status of our children.” He added, “I encourage you to safeguard these facilities for the benefit of future generations.”

Lupane District Schools, Inspector Lovemore Ncube emphasized the broader impact of the facilities: “These facilities should not just be viewed as physical structures. They represent opportunities for growth and development. I believe this initiative can turn Sibombo Primary into an industrial hub, especially if the school implements value addition to the harvest from its garden.” This aligns with Zimbabwe’s Heritage-Based Curriculum, which integrates local resources into education.

Sibongumusa-Wenkosi Masuku-Ncube, Lupane District World Vision Manager, acknowledged community efforts: “We are grateful to the community for working tirelessly to accept and support this project. Your involvement has been pivotal in bringing this vision to fruition.”The initiative underscores World Vision’s commitment to advancing education and fostering community resilience.

Parents and locals attended the handover in large numbers, demonstrating community support. Thandiwe Ndlovu, a community member, said, “This is a great step forward for our children. Access to clean water and more classroom space means they can learn better and stay healthy.”

These improvements position Sibombo Primary School as a model for educational advancement in Lupane, potentially inspiring similar projects across the region.
