Bhila Sells Out Bulawayo Theatre in Milestone Solo Concert

Local Afro-pop artist Bhila, born Patriarch Manyabi, achieved a significant milestone on Sunday, selling out his first solo concert at the Bulawayo Theatre. The event marked a defining moment for the rising musician, who filled the 290-seat venue without sponsorship or endorsements, relying solely on his dedicated fan base and grassroots promotion.
The concert drew a diverse crowd, with 40 additional tickets purchased by diaspora supporters for giveaways, ensuring broader attendance. The evening began at 6 PM with a performance by Ihawu leSizwe, whose Isicathamiya harmonies set a warm, traditional tone.
Gwanda-born Afro-pop artist Kay Kid Mfanomsuthu followed, energizing the audience with a 30-minute set featuring songs like Inhliziyo, Amawala,Vuma Ngiyoy’ Landa, and Ithemba Lami
Afro-soul singer Lewanika M then took the stage, captivating attendees with her smooth, heartfelt vocals.
At 7:30 PM, Bhila made his entrance backed by a live band. His set blended fan favorites such as Wamuhle, Emaweni, and GP with unreleased tracks, including Nomathemba, Jikela, and Waze Wamnandi, which were met with enthusiastic applause. The synergy between Bhila and his band, combined with the audience singing along, created a vibrant atmosphere.
Reflecting on the event, Bhila said, “The show was well-received, and people were happy to be part of it. What made the night so special was that they all knew most of the songs, which gave me the energy to deliver more on stage.” He added, “I’d like to extend my gratitude to all those who supported me in making my dream come true. I also appreciate my producer, Godwin Smalls Ndlovu, for helping me create music that is cherished by my fans.”
Bhila hinted at upcoming releases, including his single Jikela, signaling more to come from the artist. The sold-out concert solidified his growing presence in Bulawayo’s music scene, marking him as a talent to watch.
