Parking enforcement hours extended in Bulawayo

BULAWAYO-Parking enforcement hours in Bulawayo have been extended from 06:00 to 19:00 daily, according to an announcement by the City of Bulawayo and Tendy Three Investments (TTI) Parking Solutions.

According to a statement made by Town Clerk, Christopher Dube, this move is part of the city’s efforts to address growing concerns over traffic safety and congestion. The extension aligns with the City of Bulawayo’s Clamping and Tow-away By-law (Statutory Instrument 220 of 2023), which is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This Bylaw mandates strict compliance at all times, without designated hours of leniency.

The City claims that recent observations have highlighted a surge in parking violations after 17:00, contributing to traffic obstructions and safety hazards. The lack of enforcement during these evening hours has been a major concern for city officials, prompting the need for extended enforcement hours.

“The decision to extend enforcement hours reflects our commitment to improving traffic management and public safety,” said Town Clerk Mr. C. Dube. “We aim to address the issues caused by reckless parking and ensure a safer environment for all road users.”

The extended enforcement hours are expected to provide more consistent oversight and help mitigate the negative impacts of illegal parking on the city’s traffic flow and overall safety.
