Former VP Phelekezela Mphoko dies at 84

Zimbabwe is mourning the loss of former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, who passed away at the age of 84 this afternoon.
The news was confirmed by George Charamba, Deputy Chief Secretary for Presidential Communications, who revealed that Mphoko died in India, where he was receiving medical treatment funded by the government.
Born on June 11, 1940, Mphoko was a distinguished politician, diplomat, businessman, and former military commander. He served as Zimbabwe’s Second Vice President from 2014 to 2017 and represented the country as ambassador to Russia, Botswana, and South Africa.
Mphoko’s legacy spans decades of public service and diplomacy, leaving an indelible mark on Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
