Bulawayo My City founder wins influencer award

For Sipho Mlilo, the founder and CEO of Bulawayo My City, art has become a lifeline, connecting families and empowering local businesses across Bulawayo.
With over 14 years of experience as an artist, Mlilo’s mission has evolved from inspiring others with music to creating a platform that uplifts his entire community.
Mlilo said Bulawayo My City began as a way to spread positivity through soulful music. However, as his brand grew, so did his vision. Today, it has become a hub that supports small businesses and reunites long-lost families.
“The motive behind Bulawayo My City is to instill positivity and be a bank of hope.As the brand grew, I realized I could help promote others, so I started supporting local businesses and connecting people with their loved ones,” Mlilo explained
This dedication to community-building recently earned Mlilo the 2024 Best Social Media Influencer Award. The award recognizes his influence and impact, celebrating his role in empowering Bulawayo’s small businesses and reconnecting families.
Through Bulawayo My City, Mlilo offers startups a platform to reach wider audiences, providing them with much-needed visibility and support.
“We want to see these businesses grow, and we’re here to help them through all circumstances,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to their success.
Behind Mlilo’s achievements is a dedicated team that drives the initiative forward.
He expressed gratitude to his team members Christabel Choga, Sizalokuhle Ndlovu, Monica Fifie, and Thabani Mloyi,whose contributions have been instrumental in building the brand.
“Each member plays a unique role, whether it’s conducting interviews, promoting local content, or supporting our arts scene. Together, we’re strong,” he said.
