Umguza Ward 16 fun run boosts community development

In a vibrant display of unity and purpose, Umguza Ward 16 in Tsholotsho South constituency held its inaugural Councillor’s Fun Run on Saturday in Nkulumane, drawing enthusiastic participation from residents, local leaders and athletes.

The event not only celebrated fitness but also served a greater cause raising funds to improve the ward’s road infrastructure.

Organized under the leadership of Councillor Obert Mangwana, the fun run marked a significant milestone for the community, promoting healthy living, fostering social cohesion, and demonstrating the power of grassroots initiatives. Proceeds from t-shirt and refreshment sales were earmarked for road development, a pressing need in the ward.

“We are thrilled to have had such a great turnout for our inaugural fun run.The funds raised will go a long way in improving our road networks, making our community a better place to live,” said Councillor Mangwana.

The 2.5 km run and walk attracted participants of all ages, creating a festive atmosphere as families, athletes, and residents joined hands in support of the cause. Adding to the event’s impact, mobile doctors were on-site to offer free health checkups, reinforcing the message of wellness.

The success of the event has sparked excitement for future initiatives in Umguza Ward 16, with residents eager to build on this momentum. The community hopes this fun run will become an annual tradition, strengthening bonds and addressing local development needs.

As Councillor Mangwana remarked, “This is just the beginning of many more transformative events for our ward.”
