Bulawayo – A chilling scene unfolded in the quiet neighborhood of Cowdray Park where the body of 46-year-old Qinisela Nyathi was found in a gruesome state on the morning of January 19, 2025.
Nyathi was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with deep cuts on his throat and left arm, indicating a violent attack. The discovery was made by neighbors who alerted a 42-year-old woman, Nyathi’s sister, to identify the body at around 07:00 AM.
Upon arrival, the police confirmed the grim scene, noting the absence of any valuables on the deceased, which might suggest motives beyond simple robbery. A light green kitchen knife, broken and stained, was found near the body, providing a critical piece of evidence now under forensic scrutiny.
“The body was promptly transported to United Bulawayo Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” stated the police, who are now in a race against time to apprehend the culprits. The knife, a potential link to the murderer, has been sent for further analysis.
Assistant Inspector Msebele Nomalanga, Press and Public Relations Officer for Bulawayo Province, issued a stern warning and a plea for community assistance:
“We urge members of the public to desist from violent conduct as this leads to unnecessary loss of lives.”
She continued, emphasizing the role of public cooperation in solving the crime:
“We also appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to visit any nearest police station.”
The local community is now on high alert, with residents fearful yet eager to see justice served. The police are calling on anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward, highlighting the collective effort needed to restore peace and safety in Bulawayo.
