Chief Dakamela of Nkayi District, Matabeleland North, has been appointed Continental Executive Director of the African Kingdoms Diaspora Alliance (AKDA), a pivotal leadership role aimed at advancing African cultural unity and Ubuntu values.

The announcement, celebrated across Zimbabwe and the continent, positions the chief as a key advocate for preserving Africa’s heritage while fostering global collaboration.

Chief Dakamela, a leader from rural Matabeleland North, emphasized the collective responsibility of his new role during his acceptance speech. “This is bigger than me. It’s a great opportunity not just for me, but for the people of Nkayi, Matabeleland, and Zimbabwe as a whole,” he stated.

His appointment marks a strategic shift toward integrating youthful leadership within the AKDA, an organization founded in 2017 to promote African cultural identity and Ubuntu philosophy globally.

The chief highlighted the importance of unity amid cultural diversity, asserting, “Different cultures do not mean division and hate. If we enhance Ubuntu, we will have a united globe because Ubuntu is loving and accommodative.” His vision aligns with AKDA’s mission to bridge African traditions with contemporary governance, emphasizing collaboration between local communities and diaspora networks.

The AKDA, known for its work in cultural preservation, gains a leader whose grassroots background resonates with Zimbabwe’s ongoing cultural revival efforts. While specific dates for his appointment were not officially disclosed in available sources, the announcement has drawn praise from local leaders and cultural analysts.
