Bulawayo, May 27, 2025 – Thirteen youths were arrested in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, after police busted a Vuzu Party on 24 May. The arrests were made after police officers responded to noise complaints at a house in Cowdray Park.

According to Asst Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, Zimbabwe Republic Police, Press and Public Relations Officer for Bulawayo Province, the party was held at a seven-roomed house, and the 21-year-old host lived with his sister while their parents were in Botswana.

“We urge members of the public, especially parents, to always monitor their children’s activities to avoid such incidents, as children in such parties often indulge in drug and substance abuse,” Inspector Msebele warned.

The police operation highlights concerns about the prevalence of Vuzu parties in Bulawayo, where minors often gather to engage in substance abuse and other illicit activities. Parents and guardians are urged to remain vigilant and monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from falling prey to the dangers associated with Vuzu parties.

The arrested individuals include the 21-year-old host and 12 others, aged between 17 and 21.
