The Lupane Community Hall will transform into a hub of creativity and talent as it hosts the Lupane Giant Blanket Festival on 28–29 November 2025. Now, in its 25th year, the festival is expected to attract participants from various sectors, including arts, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

According to local organizer Giveline Mthethwa, the event provides a platform to highlight the diverse talents and craftsmanship within the Lupane community. “The Lupane Giant Blanket Festival is not just an event; it’s a celebration of our culture and our people,” Mthethwa said. “We want to provide a space where everyone can come together, share their skills, and enjoy the richness of our local talent.”

The festival will feature a variety of activities aimed at engaging attendees of all ages. Exhibitions will showcase arts and crafts, agricultural produce, and local cuisine. “We will have stalls displaying beautiful handmade crafts, agricultural produce, and local delicacies. It’s a great opportunity for our local entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses,” Mthethwa added.

Family-friendly entertainment is also planned, with games and activities designed for children. Mthethwa emphasized the importance of involving children in the event, stating, “Kids are the future of our community, and we want them to experience the joy of our culture. The games will be fun and engaging, making the festival a family-friendly event.”

Over the past 25 years, the Lupane Giant Blanket Festival has become a key cultural event in the community. It provides local artists, musicians, and performers with opportunities to share their work. “Art is a powerful means of expression, and we want to encourage our local artists to pursue their passions. This festival is an opportunity for them to gain visibility and connect with the audience,” Mthethwa explained.

The event also focuses on promoting agricultural entrepreneurship, an important part of the local economy. Farmers will display their produce, and visitors can learn about sustainable farming practices. “Agriculture is the backbone of our community, and we want to highlight the hard work of our farmers. This festival is a way to bridge the gap between consumers and producers,” said Mthethwa.

As preparations continue, excitement is building among local residents, who are encouraged to take part either as participants or attendees. Mthethwa expressed hope that the festival will strengthen community ties. “We want everyone to feel included and celebrated. This festival is for all of us, and we hope it will strengthen our community bonds,” she said.

With its focus on culture, creativity, and collaboration, the Lupane Giant Blanket Festival remains an important event for the region. Mthethwa and her team are finalizing arrangements for what they hope will be a memorable celebration. “Join us in celebrating our culture, our talent, and our community. Let’s make this 25th festival one to remember,” she concluded.

The Lupane Giant Blanket Festival continues to highlight local innovation and resilience, providing a platform that both celebrates and empowers the community.
