Police are searching for three armed suspects involved in a robbery at a residence in Rangemore, Bulawayo, on Friday morning.

Bulawayo provincial police confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. on 19 September 2025. A 29-year-old woman was confronted outside her home by three unidentified men. One suspect grabbed her by the neck, forced her inside, and demanded cash at gunpoint.

“The suspects pointed a pistol at the complainant and ordered her to lead them to the main bedroom,” said Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, Bulawayo Province deputy press and public relations officer. “They then poured boiling water on her thighs before proceeding to attack other occupants of the house.”

According to police, a 39-year-old man asleep in the bedroom was threatened with a pistol and scalded with boiling water on his feet as the suspects demanded money. A 44-year-old male occupant was assaulted, kicked in the forehead, scalded with boiling water, and bound with shoelaces. A 21-year-old was struck on the back with a pistol and had his cellphone stolen. Children in the home were also directed to the main bedroom during the incident.

The suspects stole multiple cellphones, approximately US$620 in cash, and a Nissan Caravan vehicle, which was later recovered, abandoned near Kings and Queens Funeral Parlor in Kelvin. Police reported that the stolen property was initially valued at US$16,550, with items worth US$15,580 subsequently recovered.

“The victims sustained injuries and were admitted to United Bulawayo Hospitals,” Asst. Insp. Ndlovu added. “We warn these criminals that the long arm of the law is soon catching up with them. We appeal to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to report at any nearest police station.”

Police are continuing their investigation and have encouraged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
