UK-based Zimbabwean gospel singer Isaac Mthaa Eland has released his debut book, marking a new direction in his creative work.

Born Isaac Mthabisi Mpofu in Tsholotsho, the artist has recorded five gospel singles under the name Isaac Mthaa Eland. His first book, There Is Hope After Brokenness, draws from his personal experiences growing up in rural Zimbabwe.

The book reflects on Isaac’s upbringing in an environment where access to education and basic resources was limited. He describes periods of difficulty that shaped his perspective on survival and purpose.

“Looking back at where I come from and the challenges I faced, I realised that brokenness does not have to be the end of one’s story,” he said. “Many people fail to survive brokenness, and I felt compelled to put my experiences into writing to encourage someone out there that it is possible to rise above any challenge.”

The book’s foundation is rooted in Job 14:7 (KJV): “For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.” The scripture informs the book’s themes of resilience, restoration and hope following difficult experiences.

Isaac explains that brokenness can stem from unexpected sources, including family members, close friends or trusted individuals. He notes that unaddressed pain can have lasting effects on individuals. The book offers guidance on managing such situations while prioritizing personal healing and emotional well-being.

Isaac wrote the book years after processing his own experiences. Since its publication a month ago, There Is Hope After Brokenness has sold over 150 copies worldwide, with distribution reaching Australia (5 copies), South Africa (10), the United Kingdom (15), and the majority in Zimbabwe.

Writing the book presented challenges, particularly when addressing sensitive experiences involving people he cared about. Isaac said he was careful in how he presented such material, aiming to ensure the book remained constructive.

The book identifies several causes of brokenness, including:
Loss of trust or disappointment from family members and close friends
Lack of resources and limited access to information
Domestic abuse, including sexual harassment and assault
Relationship challenges such as unfaithfulness
Loss of loved ones through unexpected events

With There Is Hope After Brokenness, Isaac Mthaa Eland expands his work beyond music to offer written testimony on resilience and faith.
