In a strategic move aimed at strengthening cross-border trade and enhancing Bulawayo’s position in the regional economy, the Bulawayo Business Network (BBN) has appointed Apostle Nelson Musowoya of Malawi to its Board as Trade Advisor.
With a background in economics and experience as National Pastor for the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Jesus Nation Church in Zimbabwe, Musowoya brings a unique blend of economic expertise and community influence.
Musowoya’s appointment is expected to open new doors for BBN members, particularly in accessing opportunities in Malawi, Tanzania, and the broader East African market. This aligns with BBN’s efforts to support local enterprises in tapping into the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
“We are positioning our organisation and members to take advantage of the AfCFTA, and Apostle Nelson Musowoya’s economic expertise and understanding of the Malawi and Tanzania markets will bring immense value to the organisation and its members,” said Khumbu Malinga, General Manager of BBN.
The appointment builds on BBN’s existing progress, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the India Africa Christian Chamber of Commerce. Musowoya’s inclusion is expected to strengthen these partnerships and accelerate initiatives connecting Bulawayo-based entrepreneurs to global markets.
“This is about more than just trade,” Malinga added. “It’s about economic diplomacy, cultural bridges, and empowering our members with practical tools and access. With Apostle Musowoya on board, we are ready to scale new heights.”
Musowoya will engage with business leaders in Bulawayo, Malawi, and Tanzania, facilitating trade missions and networking forums to strengthen economic ties between Zimbabwe and East Africa.
