During the prize-giving ceremony, Dr. Bhekizulu Khumalo, the guest speaker, applauded Tshabalala-Sizinda Old School for their initiative in collaboration with Indlovu Youth Club.
“A lot of sporting talent in our days was identified in youth clubs. I congratulate Tshabalala-Sizinda Old School for partnering with Indlovu Youth Club to revive sporting activities,” said Khumalo. He highlighted the mental, physical, and social benefits of sports, advocating for more parental encouragement in this area. “A good mind is in a fit body. Sports helps develop positive self-esteem, fosters communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, and promotes resilience and character development.”
Simosethu Malunga, Senior Recreational Leader at Indlovu Youth Club under the City of Bulawayo, also commended Tshabalala-Sizinda Old School for their partnership aimed at uplifting grassroots soccer.
“Tshabalala Old School recognized a gap in our offerings and stepped in to assist with enhancing our activities, particularly grassroots soccer, complementing what the Centre already provides.
“At Indlovu Club, we offer a range of activities including soccer, netball, karate, and arts and creativity. We understand that in today’s environment, some youths might be tempted by drugs and substances due to peer pressure. We encourage parents to send their children to the Indlovu Youth Centre during school terms and holidays, not just for homework but to engage in our activities. We also provide counseling services and have observed positive changes in many young people and their families,” said Simosethu Malunga.
