Albino Trust of Zimbabwe Rolls Out Eye Screening Programme in Bulawayo

The Albino Trust of Zimbabwe, in partnership with the Bulawayo City Council, has launched a community eye screening and vision care programme aimed at improving access to affordable eye health services for residents of Bulawayo and surrounding areas.
The outreach, which forms part of the Sight to the World initiative, commenced on 20 July at Njube Clinic before moving to Khami Clinic on 21 July. From today (22 July), residents can access the services at Cowdray Park Clinic, with the programme continuing at selected council clinics until the end of the month.
According to the Albino Trust of Zimbabwe, the programme offers eye refraction and vision screening services, with prescribed spectacles and reading glasses available at a subsidised cost.
Following today’s outreach at Cowdray Park Clinic, services will continue at:
- Emakhandeni Clinic – 23 July 2026
- Entumbane Clinic – 24 July 2026
- Mahatshula Clinic – 27 July 2026
- Maqhawe Clinic – 28 July 2026
- Princess Margaret Rose Clinic – 29 July 2026
- Nkulumane Clinic – 30 July 2026
- Dr Shennan Clinic – 31 July 2026
The Trust said the eye camp is open to everyone, with no age restrictions. People living with albinism will receive free eye screening services and complimentary sunscreen lotion.
Those requiring prescription spectacles will be required to pay a consultation fee and deposit, with the outstanding balance payable upon collection of their glasses. The Trust said spectacles will be ready for collection within two to three working days after refraction.
The organisation also noted that medical aid will be accepted, with no shortfalls for Bulawayo City Council employees, civil servants and eligible beneficiaries.
