Philimon Nyirenda Receives Business Connect Iconics, Pacesetters and Legends Award
Philimon Nyirenda, Managing Director of Youth Network Connect, has received The Business Connect Iconics, Pacesetters and Legends Award in recognition of his work in business development and youth-focused economic initiatives in Zimbabwe.
The award acknowledges Nyirenda’s involvement in a range of entrepreneurship, investment, and workforce development programs aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises and young entrepreneurs. Through platforms such as Entrepreneurs Corner, Nyirenda has facilitated networking, mentorship, and information-sharing opportunities for emerging business owners. Speaking on youth empowerment, Nyirenda said, “Empowering young entrepreneurs is not just about funding; it’s about providing access, mentorship, and a supportive ecosystem that allows them to thrive.”
Nyirenda is also the founder of the Bulawayo Business Buy and Sell Exhibition, an initiative designed to connect emerging businesses with potential markets and customers. In addition, he has been involved in business recognition initiatives including the Bulawayo Business Awards and the Imbokodo Women Business Awards, which focus on acknowledging performance within the business sector and promoting women’s entrepreneurship.
At national level, Nyirenda has contributed to initiatives such as the National Entrepreneurs and Business Awards. He also founded the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurs Investment Association (ZEIA) and the Entrepreneurs Funders Group, organizations aimed at facilitating access to funding and promoting investment engagement. His work further includes the Jobs Employment Agency, which focuses on linking job seekers with employment opportunities, and the Youth Economic Assembly, an initiative centered on economic literacy, leadership development, and innovation among young people.
According to The Business Connect, the Iconics, Pacesetters and Legends Award is presented to individuals whose activities demonstrate sustained involvement in business leadership and economic development initiatives. Nyirenda’s projects collectively focus on entrepreneurship support, workforce participation, and youth economic inclusion within Zimbabwe’s business environment.
