A 19-year-old Zimunya man has been convicted of bestiality after he was caught having sex with a chicken at a neighbor’s homestead in Piki Village, Chief Zimunya, Mutare
Carrington Mutasa was sentenced by the Mutare Magistrates’ Court to eight months in prison, with three months suspended for five years and the remaining five months suspended on condition he performs 175 hours of community service, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a statement.
According to the NPAZ, the incident happened on September 16, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., when Mutasa entered the victim’s homestead while no one was home.”The offender unlawfully entered the victim’s fowl run, grabbed a hen and engaged in sexual activity with the hen,”
said the NPAZ.
The crime was discovered after the victim’s granddaughter saw Mutasa leaving the fowl run and alerted her grandmother. “The victim inspected her fowl run and discovered that the hen had a large hole on its cloaca area,” NPAZ noted.
The victim informed her neighbors about the incident, and Mutasa was apprehended. “The offender confessed to having sexual intercourse with the hen. A report was made at Zimunya Police Post,”the authority added.
The NPAZ condemned the act, urging communities to protect animals.
“Let’s work together to protect animals and promote a culture of compassion and respect.”
