Bright Vanya Moyo, the former Lupane East MP and prominent opposition CCC leader, has passed away following a brief illness, sparking a wave of tributes from across Zimbabwe especially from his own Lupane District.

Moyo’s death was confirmed by his former colleague, Hon. Dalumuzi Khumalo, who expressed profound sorrow over the loss of a stalwart of the opposition.”Bright Vanya Moyo was a remarkable individual dedicated to serving Lupane East and our nation,” said Khumalo. “His unwavering commitment to principles and tireless efforts to uplift his community will be deeply missed. We have lost a true patriot and champion for the people.”

Moyo’s political journey was marked by his significant contributions to his community and his role as an influential figure in Zimbabwe’s opposition. Despite being recalled from his MP position last year by Sengezo Tshabangu—a move that drew considerable criticism from his supporters—Moyo’s impact on local and national politics remained substantial.

Hon. Mxolisi Charles Sibanda, MP for Lupane West, also paid tribute to Moyo, describing him as a respected and influential leader. “Bright Vanya Moyo’s passing is a tremendous loss for our community. His leadership and dedication to improving our region will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
