For Violla Shandukurai, affectionately known as Voxie, music has never been just about melody it’s been a journey of healing, faith, and perseverance.
In October 2024, Voxie hosted her first concert at Kingdom Empowerment Center (KEC) in Bulawayo’s CBD. At the time, she had not yet released a professional recording, but her passion for worship and her unwavering faith carried her through that season. “Being on the forefront was awesome,” she recalls. “It was such an amazing experience, though, music for a sole beginner can be stressful when finances are limited, but thank God everything went well.”
Voxie’s musical roots run deep. She began singing at a tender age in church, inspired by her parents, who also sang. “My parents are my source of inspiration because I learnt from them how to sing,” she says. Over the years, even while working quietly behind the scenes, her dream of releasing a song to the body of Christ never faded.
However, the road was far from smooth. Financial challenges delayed her plans, testing both her patience and her faith. “Music is not for the faint-hearted,” she reflects. “It requires a strong financial muscle. But I learnt the art of patience. Even as I sang my songs in the shower, I prayed to God to give me the capacity to release this song as a starting point.”
That prayer was answered. In October 2025, exactly a year after her concert, Voxie finally released her debut single, Ishe Ndovimba(“Lord, I Trust”). The song, a heartfelt declaration of faith, was birthed out of one of the darkest seasons of her life. “I wrote this song during a difficult time when I was losing hope and battling depression and anxiety. I had suicidal thoughts,” she shares candidly. “But in that moment, I strengthened myself in the Lord. We are in a generation that looks for quick answers in worldly things, but the real solution is in trusting God.”
Drawing inspiration from 1 Samuel 30:6, Voxie’s message to listeners is clear and powerful: trust God in every circumstance. “My song is for anyone who has lost hope,” she says. “Hold steadfast to the promises of God they will surely come to pass.”
Ishe Ndovimba is now streaming on all major digital platforms, including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. The official launch will take place on October 24, 2025, at Kingdom Empowerment Center, where Voxie fellowships, followed by the music video release on October 25, 2025.
As Voxie steps into this new chapter, her story stands as a testimony that even through pain, faith can turn every tear into a song, and every struggle into a melody of victory.
