A 24-year-old woman from the Chief Zimunya area has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Mutare Magistrates’ Court for the aggravated indecent assault of a 14-year-old boy.

The court heard that the incident occurred on September 23, 2025, while the victim was performing chores in a village garden.

According to the statement released yesterday by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the offender followed the minor to the garden and solicited him for sexual intercourse. When the minor refused her advances, the woman used force to undress and pin him down before proceeding to assault him.

The matter came to light after the victim began experiencing medical complications. “The victim reported the incident after he started passing bloody urine.

The victim was accompained to the police by his uncle to report the matter, leading to the arrest of the woman,” said NPAZ.

In highlighting the broader implications of the case, the NPAZ said the abuse against children remains a serious concern, regardless of the gender of the perpetrator or victim.

“The sexual abuse of minors by adults of either gender is a serious offence that has long-lasting psychological effects on victims,” the authority stated.

“The NPAZ will keep ensuring that such offenders are apprehended and face the full wrath of the law.”
