On February 28, 2025, at 10 a.m., Magoli Village in Hwange, will host the groundbreaking ceremony for Gallus Academy School, marking the start of construction for the country’s first affordable private primary school.

Designed to serve third through seventh graders, the school aims to provide quality education while supporting Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which prioritizes human capital development.

The Gallus Academy project focuses on both education and community impact. “This ceremony represents not just the construction of a new school, but a major milestone for our community,” said Denzel Mhepo, Project Coordinator for Gallus Academy. “We are committed to creating job opportunities for residents and enhancing the educational landscape in Matabeleland North. We also commit to providing scholarships for some economically disadvantaged students in our area who otherwise would not be able to afford to attend private school.” This effort ensures broader access to private education in the region.

The ceremony will bring together community leaders, educators, and stakeholders to celebrate the initiative. It reflects a collective commitment to improving educational opportunities for students in Hwange and beyond. The school’s Pan-African approach will cater to a diverse student body, emphasizing academic excellence and affordability.

Construction of the school is expected to generate local employment opportunities and contribute to the educational infrastructure of Matabeleland North. The project aligns with national goals to advance learning and economic development through accessible education.
