Four Bulawayo men have landed in police custody after being implicated in a daring theft that struck Transwealthy Hardware. The accused were identified as Freeman Mathema (28), Precious Dube (52), Promise Nyamapfeni (30) and Mduduzi Mutevedzi (38).
The arrests came after a thorough investigation that linked the suspects to the stolen property, which included a variety of valuable items from the hardware store.
This group was involved in breaking into the store and stealing goods worth $992, including 20 liters of paint, 5 liters of gloss paint, locksets, ladders, tying wires, drill machines, and cement. All stolen items were recovered, and the suspects were detained at their respective residences.
Mduduzi Mutevedzi revealed that he used his silver Honda Fit to transport the stolen goods after Promise Nyamapfeni had taken them. Following Nyamapfeni’s arrest, police conducted a follow-up investigation, recovering more stolen goods and identifying where they had been sold.
Inspector Abednico Ncube expressed gratitude to the community for their vigilance and warned businesses to be cautious about their staff.
“Some robbery and unlawful entry cases are engineered from within workplaces, hence we urge the business community to vet people first to avoid employing potential criminals,” said Inspector Ncube.
He also advised the public to refrain from buying items without proper documentation, highlighting the risks of purchasing stolen goods.
