The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kezi, Matobo District, held a large-scale clean-up campaign this week, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote health and environmental responsibility.
Church members from different parts of the district gathered to clean business centres and public spaces in Kezi, Spero, Natisa, Silozwe, Bazha, Fumugwe, and the Matobo Research area, as well as nearby clinics.
Armed with leaf rakes, buckets, and bin liners, volunteers collected litter including paper, plastic, and glass bottles, before sweeping the surroundings and engaging community members in health education.

Johnson Nkomazana, one of the church members, described the campaign as a meaningful initiative.
“This was one of the best initiatives that the conference came up with. We left the premises very clean, and I wish this could be done regularly so that our evangelism also shows how clean our God expects us to live,” he said.
The campaign formed part of the church’s broader mission to combine spiritual outreach with practical community service.

Sterling Sibanda, the church’s communication director, urged community institutions to take ownership of their environments.
“Our stores, clinics, and schools are public spaces that reflect who we are. Keeping them clean builds pride and a positive community image,” Sibanda said.
The event underscored the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s commitment to environmental stewardship and healthy living, reinforcing the role of faith-based groups in driving community development.
