Infant found dead in Filabusi, police seek information

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Filabusi are investigating a case of murder involving an eight-week-old baby boy found dead in Kuzwisisa Village, Marumbara area, on May 25, 2025. The ZRP reported that the infant’s nose and right cheek were cut off.

According to a statement posted by the ZRP on X, the mother of the victim had left the baby sleeping in a spare bedroom while she was having breakfast in a kitchen hut.
“Police in Filabusi are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of murder in which a baby boy (8 weeks) was found dead at Kuzwisisa Village, Marumbara area on the 25th of May,” the ZRP stated. “The nose and right cheek were cut off.”

Authorities are appealing for information from the public. “Anyone with information to report to the nearest police station,” the ZRP added.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances of the incident.
