Zimbabwean stand-up comedian King Kandoro, born Mukudzei Kandoro Majoni, has announced a four-city comedy tour set to take place this December. Titled “State of the Nation,” the tour will deliver an irreverent and satirical take on the year 2025.
The tour will open in Bulawayo on December 6 at the Academy of Music, before moving to Johannesburg’s Victory Theatre on December 14, then to Cape Town’s Homecoming Centre on December 15, and concluding in Harare at the Celebration Centre on December 20.
According to a statement from his management company, Madhorofiya Republik, ticket sales have been selling fast , with “at least two thirds of the tickets already sold out” through the comedian’s website, kingkandorolive.com.
The tour will also feature continental comedy acts including Hillary Okello from Uganda and Vafa Naraghi from South Africa. Kandoro’s team says this initiative is part of a broader effort to grow an annual comedy event in Zimbabwe that attracts both regional and international talent.
“King Kandoro’s State of the Nation tour is not only a showcase of his sharp wit and storytelling, but also a celebration of African comedy talent,” said a spokesperson for Madhorofiya Republik. “We’re excited to see Zimbabwe take a leading role in hosting world-class comedy shows.”
In addition to the main acts, the tour will highlight emerging comedians from Kandoro’s New School Comedy Club, offering them a platform to perform alongside established names.
This year has been a busy one for Kandoro, who headlined Kenya’s Nairobi International Comedy Festival and Zimbabwe’s Shoko Festival. He also launched PaGrowth Point, a family game show on YouTube, and continues to host his weekly podcast Black & Forth with fellow comedian Munashe Chirisa.
A two-time NAMA Award winner, King Kandoro has earned the nickname “Mr. Sold Out” for his consistent record of full-house performances. His upcoming State of the Nation tour is expected to close out the year on a high note for Zimbabwe’s comedy scene.
