Musa Ncube, Deputy Minister of Housing and MP for Tsholotsho South, has donated 400 road runner birds to her constituency, providing a major boost to local incomes and food security.
The donation, which includes four bird lines—Mopane, Stanhope, Lonsdale, and Nesby—will see each community receive 100 birds, offering families a new source of income and helping combat food insecurity.
Councillor Obert Mangwana, who organized the handover in Bulawayo, praised the initiative for its potential to uplift rural communities. He highlighted how it aligns with broader efforts to promote sustainable agriculture in the region.
“This donation will significantly support our community’s economic development,” Mangwana said.
Mthandi Ndlovu, Vice Chair of the Stars Poultry Club in Nesby, expressed optimism about the long-term benefits. The funds raised from the birds will help expand operations, improve facilities, and diversify into goat farming. “With this donation, we aim to move beyond temporary structures and achieve greater stability,” Ndlovu added.
The project reflects the power of community-driven efforts to foster resilience and self-reliance. By integrating poultry farming into the local economy, Ncube’s donation not only provides immediate benefits but sets the stage for sustainable growth and development in Tsholotsho South.
